Competitive Summer Intensives FAQ

Clarity builds confidence. Explore how our required Competitive Summer Intensives keep your dancer challenged, safe, and supported while honouring your family’s time and investment.

Who are the Competitive Summer Intensives designed for? +
Our Competitive Summer Intensives are designed exclusively for dancers in our Competitive Program who are committed to training at a higher level and want to start the new season feeling prepared, aligned with their team, and confident in their technique and performance.
Are the intensives required for competitive dancers? +
Yes. Our Competitive Summer Intensives are a required part of the training calendar for all competitive dancers at Dynamic. This ensures that every member of the team begins the season on the same page—strong, conditioned, and ready to take on new choreography and competitive demands together.
What styles and training will my dancer experience during the intensives? +
Dancers train in a rich mix of classical ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary, combined with cross training, conditioning, flexibility work, progressions, and focused jumps and turns. Each day is intentionally structured to support competitive-level technique, musicality, artistry, and performance quality—not just learning more choreography.
How do the intensives work with family vacations or other summer plans? +
Each intensive runs in a focused 5-day block from 9:00am–4:00pm, which makes it easier to plan around trips, camps, or work schedules. If you are aware of unavoidable conflicts, we encourage you to reach out so we can talk through options and keep your dancer’s training as consistent as possible.
What is the difference between the Mini/Junior and Intermediate/Senior intensives? +
Our Mini/Junior intensive focuses on strong foundations, safe strength-building, musicality, and emerging performance quality, while the Intermediate/Senior intensive dives deeper into stamina, advanced technical demands, and refined artistry. Both divisions share the same heart: a positive, disciplined environment where dancers are challenged at the right level and seen as individuals.
How do you keep dancers safe while training full days at a higher level? +
Safety starts with qualified faculty, age-appropriate progressions, and proper warm-up and cool-down built into each day. We balance high-level training with intentional breaks, cross training, and recovery-focused work so dancers are not pushed into tricks before they are ready, and their bodies are supported during more intensive scheduling.
How do the intensives impact my dancer’s confidence and placement for the season? +
Summer is often where dancers make their biggest gains. The intensives give them time to focus on strength, flexibility, and precision without competition pressure, so they return in the fall feeling ready instead of “rusty.” Consistent summer training supports stronger casting, quicker choreography retention, and a more confident start to the competitive year.
What if my dancer has to miss a day of their intensive? +
We know life happens. We encourage dancers to attend all five days to receive the full benefit of the intensive, but if you know about a conflict in advance, please let us know. We can share what they’ll miss, offer at-home focuses when appropriate, and help them stay connected to their training and group expectations.
What is the tuition, and what is included in the intensive fee? +
Each intensive is $250 + HST for five full days (9:00am–4:00pm), and includes multi-style training, cross training and conditioning, progressions, jumps and turns, choreography, and mindset and performance coaching. Because this is a required component of our Competitive Program, tuition is structured to offer strong value for the number of training hours and the calibre of instruction your dancer receives.
What should my dancer bring each day to their intensive? +
Dancers should arrive in appropriate dancewear for movement, with required footwear for the styles listed, a refillable water bottle, lunch and snacks, and any small items that help them feel prepared (notebook, hair supplies, etc.). We’ll send a simple “what to bring” reminder before the intensive begins so you and your dancer feel ready.

Still wondering how the intensives fit your dancer’s level or your family’s summer plans?

Share your dancer’s age, current competitive level, and any travel dates, and we’ll recommend the best intensive option so you can move forward with confidence.
